A Philadelphia area doctor was sentence to 12 months and one day in prison and ordered to pay $100,000 fine for the illegal distribution of oxycodone. I choose this topic because I worked with a nurse that used to steal patients pain medications for herself and others. She was such a good nurse that it was hard to believe that could such things. If I was the manager assigned to re-brand the company, I would use mass marketing. Mass marketing is an undifferentiated marketing strategy in which the organization decide to ignore niche marketing and attempts to appeal to the entire market with one strategy or one offer. The best way to prevent this from happening will be counting every medications at the end of each shift. I will also put a camera to watch every activities.

Introduction: Healthcare fraud is a rampant issue in the industry that defrauds patients and insurance providers alike. It is important for healthcare professionals to understand the impact of fraudulent activities and how best to prevent these occurrences. In this assignment, we will discuss a healthcare fraud case and answer relevant questions.

1. The chosen healthcare fraud case involves a Philadelphia doctor who was sentenced to 12 months in prison and a $100,000 fine for the illegal distribution of oxycodone. This case resonates with me because of the potential harm that unrestricted access to narcotics can cause. It is important to hold healthcare professionals accountable for any illegal activity that could compromise patient safety.

2. If I were the manager assigned to rebrand the company, I would use a concentrated marketing strategy. This approach focuses on a specific market segment with a distinct set of needs, preferences, and values. In this case, the target market would be people who need pain relief but are wary of addiction. The awareness of addiction risks will be part of the message when promoting the brand.

3. To prevent fraudulent activity from recurring, strict policies will be put in place. One strategy is to track and monitor transactions by implementing a system that identified discrepancies in inventory or billing records. Opportunities for staff training and education on fraud prevention will also be provided. The use of surveillance systems might also deter criminal actions by ensuring that every employee is aware of the monitoring process, and that any suspicious activities will be detected.
