Introduction:
As a medical professor, I am responsible for creating assignments and evaluating the performance of college students. In this role, I have designed lectures, examinations and assignments to assess the knowledge and understanding of various health issues. In this assignment, I will address three separate questions related to health issues and interprofessional collaboration within public health.

1) Find a peer-reviewed article that uses the logical model or the PRECEDE-PROCEED model for a health issue.

a) An example of how the activities within the intervention can help to address the problem(s) identified is through the PRECEDE-PROCEED model for obesity prevention. This model focuses on identifying predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling factors that contribute to the health issue. One intervention activity includes educating parents and caregivers on healthy nutritional habits and promoting physical activity among children. This addresses the predisposing factors of lack of knowledge and attitudes towards healthy behaviors. By creating a supportive environment that reinforces healthy choices, children are more likely to engage in physical activity and less likely to be overweight or obese.

b) The process, effect, and outcome that can be assessed for the activities identified in (a) are as follows:

Process: The process of implementing this intervention can be assessed by monitoring the participation and engagement of parents and caregivers in educational sessions and children’s attendance and participation in physical activity programs.

Effect: The effect of the intervention can be assessed by changes in the predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling factors that contribute to obesity among children. This might include changes in parent and caregiver knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to healthy nutrition and physical activity, as well as the availability of healthy food options and the accessibility of physical activity opportunities.

Outcome: The outcome of the intervention can be assessed by the reduction in overweight and obesity rates among children.

2) Watch the interprofessional videos located in your week 7 presentations folder. Once you have viewed all six videos, answer the following:

I selected nursing and healthcare administration departments in which I foresee myself interacting with in the role of a public health professional. I selected nursing because nurses are essential partners in public health and play a vital role in health promotion, disease prevention, and healthcare delivery. I also selected healthcare administration because healthcare systems and policies affect the health of populations and require effective leadership and management.

To optimize these interactions, I would collaborate with nurses to develop and implement health education programs, conduct health assessments, and provide healthcare services to underserved communities. With healthcare administration, I would collaborate to propose and implement health policies and systems that improve the health and well-being of communities.

The importance of interprofessional collaboration within public health cannot be overstated. The complex nature of health issues and the diverse needs of populations require collaboration among different fields of expertise to develop effective strategies and interventions.

3) You are a researcher working with the Public Health Department, and you are assigned to collect data on nail salon workers:

a) The health-related problems reported by nail salon workers include exposure to chemicals and toxins, respiratory problems, allergies, skin irritation, and musculoskeletal disorders.

b) The barriers that hinder the collection of data from this population include language barriers, fear of retaliation, undocumented status, lack of trust in researchers, and lack of awareness about their rights to participate in research. To overcome these barriers, it is essential to engage in culturally responsive recruitment and data collection practices, establish rapport and trust with the community, and ensure privacy and confidentiality. Additionally, involving community members and leaders in the research process can increase participation and reduce mistrust.
