Introduction:
In this assignment, we will be discussing a specific healthcare organization that has been in existence since the 1980s. We will identify the basic healthcare services provided by the organization and analyze how it has changed over the years due to economic and political forces. Furthermore, we will evaluate how these changes have impacted the organization’s efficacy and the U.S. health system overall.

Part 1:
The healthcare organization chosen for this assignment is a nonprofit hospital named Memorial Hermann. Memorial Hermann Hospital was founded in 1986 in Houston, Texas, and is the largest healthcare system in southeast Texas. The hospital is a nonprofit organization that provides a broad spectrum of healthcare services, including cancer care, women’s health, orthopedics, heart & vascular, neurosciences, transplant, and emergency medicine.

Part 2:
Since the 1980s, Memorial Hermann Hospital has undergone significant changes due to economic and political forces. One significant change is the impact of technology on the organization’s operations. The hospital has adopted new technologies such as electronic health records, telemedicine, and telemonitoring systems, which have improved patient care and reduced costs.

Another significant change is the professional personnel involved in the hospital’s operations. The hospital has recruited highly qualified medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel. This has led to improved patient outcomes and increased patient satisfaction.

Lastly, patient demographics have changed since the 1980s. Memorial Hermann Hospital has seen an increase in the number of elderly patients with chronic diseases, which has led to a higher demand for healthcare services. The hospital has responded to this demand by opening new facilities and offering specialized services that cater to the elderly population.

Part 3:
From an administrator’s viewpoint, these changes have positively impacted Memorial Hermann Hospital’s efficacy. The adoption of new technologies has led to improved patient care, reduced healthcare costs, and increased operational efficiency. The recruitment of highly qualified professionals has led to better patient outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. Lastly, the hospital’s response to demographic changes has led to increased revenue and an expanded patient base.

However, these changes have also had negative impacts on the overall U.S. health system. The increased demand for healthcare services due to demographic changes has led to a supply and demand imbalance, resulting in longer wait times and higher healthcare costs for patients. Additionally, the adoption of new technologies and the recruitment of highly qualified medical professionals have led to an increase in healthcare costs, which has made healthcare less affordable and accessible for many patients.

In summary, Memorial Hermann Hospital has undergone significant changes since the 1980s due to economic and political forces. The hospital has responded to these changes by adopting new technologies, recruiting highly qualified professionals, and responding to demographic changes. These changes have positively impacted the hospital’s efficacy from an administrator’s viewpoint, but negatively impacted the U.S. health system overall.
